The Pope's Prayer Intentions
When I was a little girl, my grandmother had an older version of this prayer glued to the mirrored medicine cabinet in her bathroom, and my parents also taught it to me:
Morning Offering
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart,
in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world,
for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians,
and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month.
Amen.
It was meant to be the first prayer you said in the morning as you brushed your teeth, offering your whole day to God. I share it with you because I prayed it for years, not understanding much of it, but especially that the Pope actually articulated monthly intentions for us to pray for! I said the words, not really understanding what they meant.
Now , in this digital age, the Apostleship of Prayer website not only promotes the Pope's monthly intentions, but they produce beautiful on-line videos, featuring Pope Francis, that explain them. They also offer other types of reflections on these intentions. What I LOVE is that they also offer a reflection for children.
For February, the intention that is featured is to pray to defeat corruption. That is a very difficult concept for little children to grasp. But the reflection for children so beautifully and creatively uses the story of Cinderella (my favorite of the "old" Disney movies) to explain corruption and offers suggestions for family discussion and prayer appropriate for young ones.

Websites for Families
Here is the website with the games we played during the February Parish Intergenerational Faith Formation session.
The CRS Rice Bowl website has so many things for families to do! Don't hesitate to click on the Educators tab for additional prayers, videos and activities that families can say, watch and do together!
