Young Adult
Lent begins on February 14th. After saying this prayer, consider how you will increase your prayer, fasting, and giving to others during Lent this year.

What would it take for you to carve out just 24 minutes each day for prayer? What about even 24 hours for retreat, even just once a year?
The Take 24 challenge is an initiative of the Diocese of Des Moines Young Adult Ministry (If you don't already, click the image below and follow them on Facebook!) The idea of this challenge is that each young person takes time each day to pray, attend a retreat, and be a part of a small faith sharing community.
"There are 1,440 minutes in a day. One percent of that time is 14 minutes and 24 seconds, so roughly 15 minutes. What would happen if you dedicated just one percent of your life every day to God?"

I want to challenge you to join this community, and take on the Take 24 challenge. We can do better than one percent, so lets shoot for 24. Our young adult small group in our parish will be reflecting on this challenge as well during Lent. Contact Liz to learn more about this group. If this seems a daunting task for you, remember that prayer can take on many different forms: Rosary, adoration, talking to God, singing, creating art, lectio divina, liturgy of the hours, guided meditation, reading books, you name it! The following article has a few more ways to get you into a habit of prayer that isn't boring, but varied and sincere. Simple Prayer Ideas

Attend the Take 24 retreat this Lent
Take 24 hours away from it all this Lent to grow in your faith! We'll be retreating from the noise of our daily lives by heading out to the St. Thomas More Center for a weekend of reflecting on who we are in God's eyes, how we need to be healed to move further in our life with God, and what it means to be Easter people all year long. With all the craziness of the daily routine, it's easy to let days, weeks, months, and eventually years pass without stepping away to make sure we spend some time focused on growing in our faith in Christ. So here's your chance: take 24 hours away with your peers, open your heart, and spend some time in the presence of the Lord. Register HERE
If you can't make it out to the retreat, really take on the challenge this Lent of 24 minutes of prayer each day whenever it works for you.
